About 15 years ago I was diagnosed with ME because my symptoms were chronic mental and physical fatigue. It progressively worsened over the next 3 years until I was bedridden and couldn’t walk at all and most of the time I went from wheelchair to bed and back again.

My concentration span was only a few minutes and I found I couldn’t listen to anyone and my eyes were very light sensitive so most of the time I stayed in a darkened room. I couldn’t even call anyone, as my fingers were unable to press the keys on the telephone. My digestive system was so weak that I couldn’t eat most foods so my diet was very plain and bland. I spent 6 weeks in the Oldchurch Hospital where the diagnosis was Candida and ME, which made things worse. The staff gave me Prozac and I spent the next 6-8 weeks like a zombie and the next 9 months trying to get the after effects out of my system.

My hearing went hypersensitive so everyone around me had to whisper and the whole package put a terrible strain on my relationships to where my husband and I separated.
